What is the effect of CBD?
CBD belongs to a group of chemicals called cannabinoids, as mentioned above. It is a phytocannabinoid because it comes from plants. Natural cannabinoids are also produced by the body, known as endocannabinoids. Cannabinoids work on cannabinoid receptors.
The complex endocannabinoid systems (ECS) include cannabinoid receptors. It controls neurotransmitters, chemicals that connect nerve cells, in the brain and other parts. Both phyto and endocannabinoids can stimulate the ECS.
CBD can have many effects on the body by acting on the ECS. Some examples include balance in the body's physical functions (homeostasis), reduction of pain sensation, and decreased body reaction to injury (inflammation).
